CBS News: Live Breaking News App Reviews

The stories are good, if short. Not much selection. There are to many repetitive pop up ads in pictures of the week, very annoying. Your better option is Flip Board.

My CNN app stopped working so I downloaded CBS NEWS APP and I love it.

Compared to the various cable and broadcast network news apps such as CNN and Fox News, as well as the Sling App, this is by far the best thing available in the App Store. It loads very quickly and the live video feed is instant. There is no loading time, even when switching between apps. When there are commercials, you get a simple static screen with a countdown to when the live feed will return. You get all sorts of CBS news programming, including any news shows airing normally on CBS at that time. When no live news is airing on CBS, you get great news anchors and reporters doing a standard, in studio news report that spans all the popular topics, breaking news, etc. Its also FREE! No cable subscription required, no log on required, its just on all the time. You can also watch it on multiple devices like your iPad and AppleTV at the same time. The CNN and Fox News app take forever to load the live stream and have repetitive commercials over and over again. They also crash and freeze all the time, especially when switching between apps. The Sling App for CNN and other news is also horrible, constantly freezing and only allowing 1 device at a time. If you are not a cable subscriber and you want a 24 hour news channel you can watch online, this is the best option out there.

CBS appears to have gotten their news app for iOS closer to what a news app should be when considered against the news apps currently available from the major network and cable/satellite news organizations. Unlike most other apps that require you have either cable or satellite services, the CBS News app appears to allow more live access than any of the other news organizations.

I love this app! Keeps me in touch at any time I choose to watch these news programs but for one annoying glitch: perhaps because of a weak signal, an error message appears telling me that the particular program is NOT available and to try later.....while continuing to stream ENTIRE program!!!! Clearly the program IS available but at that point I have a choice: either continue watching while the annoying message continues to block the middle of the screen all the time or stop the stream, restart the app and go find the place where the interruption occurred! That last option is a real pain and distraction. If the message reappears I go to the NBC app to find peace. Please fix the glitch CBS, if u happen to catch this review.
